Bike Safety

Bicycles are associated with more childhood injuries than any other consumer product except the automobile. More than 70 percent of all children ages 5 to 14 ride bikes. In 2002, 130 children ages 14 and under died in bicycle-related crashes, but this numbers continues to decrease every year. In 2003, nearly 285,600 children ages 14 and under were treated in hospital emergency rooms for bicycle-related injuries.
