Patient & Family Handbook

Patient & Family Handbook Trauma is an unexpected occurrence. Hardly anyone thinks, “I’m going to get hurt today.” A sudden injury, the accompanying hospitalization and resulting recovery can be anxiety-provoking and frightening. You may feel confused by some things you hear and see. You may not understand some of the words that people use.

We hope that the information in this handbook will help you better cope during this difficult time. It includes a basic explanation of some of the most common types of injuries and their treatments and how patients are cared for in the trauma center. It also provides you with some practical information about various hospital services and policies.

In the back of the handbook there is room for you to take notes and write down questions you may have for the doctors and staff. We encourage you to use this to make sure you get all your questions answered.
