Sharp Memorial Hospital

Commitment to Excellence

The Sharp Memorial Hospital Trauma Center has set the bar for trauma systems across the country for its organization, efficiency, and delivery of exceptional care for the injured.  Especially impressive, Sharp Memorial Hospital completed a new hospital modernization project in 2009, which included a 1600 square foot 4-bed trauma resuscitation space with a state-of-the-art CT scan within the Emergency Department. As a Level II designated Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons, the Sharp Memorial Trauma Center is part of San Diego County's Trauma System — a partnership that includes five other designated Trauma Centers launched in August 1984. Sharp Healthcare and Sharp Memorial Hospital began their support to the Trauma Service with the overall vision to be the best healthcare system in the universe.   Learn more→

Serving the Growing Needs

Additionally, the Sharp Memorial Trauma Center is responsive to serving the growing needs of the aging population.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), two main factors—longer life spans and aging baby boomers—will "combine to double the population of Americans aged 65 years or older during the next 25 years to about 72 million. By 2030, older adults will account for roughly 20% of the U.S. population".  The Sharp Trauma Service has been recognized for providing an award-winning geriatric trauma program. Learn more→
