Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center located in rural, PA is the only Level I Trauma Center between Hershey, Pa and Pittsburgh, Pa. Conemaugh has been dedicated to the care of trauma patients since initial accreditation in 1987.

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is committed to leading programs as well as offering numerous resources to pre-hospital services and referring hospital facilities to optimize patient management. It is also the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Trauma Team's dedicated priority to offer several outreach programs as well as launching new programs with aims on trauma injury prevention. 

 

Our pre-hospital and referral hospital education courses and resources include:

 

  • Rural Trauma Team Development Course
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Instruct two courses per year
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses Course (ATCN)
  • Difficult Airway Course
  • STOP THE BLEED training
  • Annual Keystone Trauma, Emergency and Neurology Summit (KTENS)

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention funds national research, specializes in health education, resources, and raising awareness. Some medications, such as prescription opioids, can help relieve pain in the short term but also come with serious risks and potential complications—and should be prescribed and used carefully. The CDC highlights that the best ways to prevent opioid overdose deaths are to improve opioid prescribing, reduce exposure to opioids, prevent misuse, and treat opioid use disorder.
