Falls in Nursing Homes

As many as 3 out of 4 people in nursing homes fall each year. That is twice the rate of falls for older adults living in the community. People in nursing homes tend to be frail, have more than one chronic illness, problems with thinking or memory, and difficulty with activities of daily living and walking. All of these factors increase the risk of falling.
