Educate Children on Avoiding Abusive Situations

Children are able to learn important tools to deal with potentially abusive situations. In particular, skills on determining what is and what is not appropriate physical contact and communication strategies with adults can protect a child in an abusive situation. Children are able to determine when a situation is uncomfortable and speak to an adult they trust about it. There are many types of child abuse prevention programs in the U.S. in schools, family resource centers, and parent support groups.
