The Brigham and Women's Hospital Trauma Center has been providing Level I trauma care since 1993 to Massachusetts and New England residents and visitors. Level I is the highest designation a trauma center can receive. It means the entire hospital and many different types of medical and surgical specialists have professional interests and expertise in providing care to trauma patients and their families. Providing the highest level of expert skill and care around the clock is what distinguishes us from most other hospitals.
To maintain our Level I accreditation from the American College of Surgeons, we must continuously monitor our care and maintain an excellent response pattern for the treatment of all major trauma which enters our emergency department daily. This means a trauma surgeon and team of specialists are available 24-hours-a-day, seven days per week.
The Brigham and Women's Hospital Trauma Center is committed to research, education, prevention, and outreach activities.
