National Trauma Survivors Day is a time to come together and recognize the millions of people whose lives have been changed by traumatic injury. On May 19 and throughout the month of May, trauma survivors, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, first responders, and communities around the world will celebrate trauma survivors and all who care for them, honor those we have lost, and raise awareness in our communities around injury recovery.

Show your Support for the TSN
and the Trauma Community

You don’t have to wait for National Trauma Survivors Day to show your support for the Trauma Survivors Network and the trauma community. Every day is an opportunity to recognize trauma survivors, strengthen connections, share encouragement, and help others feel less alone. Whether you are a trauma survivor, family member, healthcare professional, first responder, community partner, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, small actions can have a meaningful impact. Choose an activity below and help keep the conversation, connection, and support going all year long.

Let your community know you stand with trauma survivors and the people who support them. By adding a TSN profile frame to your social media profile, you are helping raise awareness of the trauma survivor community and what life after injury can be like.

A few words can go a long way. Download a
Pass-It-On Postcard
and write your message of encouragement, gratitude, hope, or recognition. You can print it to give it to someone who has made a difference in your life or could use some support today, or post it and tag them in it!

Music can capture experiences that are sometimes difficult to put into words. Help create a community playlist by contributing a song that represents your journey or reminders you of a trauma survivor. Add your song, share why you chose it, and it can be added to our official Soundtrack of Survival 2027.

You can donate to the TSN by selecting “Trauma Survivors Network” from the donation list on the American Trauma Society website donation page or by texting “TSN” to 703-215-4011.

You can also encourage your friends, family, and community to donate to support the creation of resources to support and connect trauma survivors.

How to Participate in #TraumaSurvivorsDay 2027

Posting a message of hope, encourage, advice, inspiration, and support by every one of us will create an unprecedented voice of compassion and solidarity for Trauma Survivors.

  1. Print our sign and fill it with your custom note of recognition or encouragement.
  2. Take a picture of yourself holding the sign.
  3. Post the picture on all of your social media accounts using the hashtag #TraumaSurvivorsDay and #NTSD2027
  4. Tag your friends, family, Trauma Center or TSN program, and of course, us at the national program! (@traumasurvivors)

There are over 300 TSN programs across the United States, Canada, and Australia! Check to see what program is closest to you and find out what events they may be hosting in May to celebrate survivors.

Take this moment to also join your local TSN. Get connected and involved year-round with events, support groups, volunteer opportunities, and more!

You can host a small event, like having a dinner to celebrate the survivors and their close family and friends, or a larger event to raise awareness in your community! If you are a survivor, consider how you want to celebrate yourself and your journey this May! Be sure to take pictures to share with us.

The Race to Rebuild is a virtual self-paced Run, Walk, Roll, to raise awareness of the Trauma Survivors Network and recognize the recovery journey taken by trauma survivors. Register to join the race by May 1st and receive an amazing race shirt. You can race on your own during the month of May or see if your local TSN program is hosting a Race to Rebuild group event.

We want to highlight the stories of trauma survivors as well as the family and friends of trauma survivors across the network! . Your story can be a video, pictures, an essay, a song, or any form you feel comfortable sharing your experience of recovery and life after injury. Any questions can be sent to [email protected]
