Youth Violence Prevention Resources
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention funds national research and specializes in health education, resources, and raising awareness. Youth violence is a severe problem that can have lasting harmful effects on victims and their families, friends, and communities. Youth Violence Prevention efforts should aim to reduce factors that place youth at risk for perpetrating violence and promote factors that protect youth at risk for violence. Many prevention tools have been developed and implemented; many of these prevention programs and strategies have been evaluated and found to be effective at preventing violence and related behaviors among youth.

The Healing Tree
The Healing Tree – Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families provides assistance for any child who has experienced abuse, from ages 3-18. As the leading mental health treatment program for victims of child abuse in Central Florida, The Healing Tree provides evidence-based assessments, along with individual, group and family therapy sessions for children and their caregivers. This leading treatment facility helps strengthen the family unit and supports long-term recovery through confidential crisis counseling, individual, group and family therapy sessions for children and caregiver, and referral services.
Mental Health Association of Central Florida
Mental Health Association of Central Florida’s Youth and Family Services program provides mental health counseling, at no cost, to uninsured children, adolescents and their families who may be experiencing mental health struggles or in recovery from an acute mental health crisis. The program focuses on youth ages 6-17 years of age.
