Rady Children’s Health San Diego

Rady Children’s Health in San Diego is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center certified by the American College of Surgeons. This designation plays an integral role in preserving life and helping children and families recover. In addition to treating conditions often handled in emergency rooms, the Trauma Center offers a unique, higher level of care, providing lifesaving treatments for the most severely ill or injured children. Highly trained teams and cutting-edge treatments are always available to help the most severely injured patients. Our physicians and Trauma Team members are ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This comprehensive care provided by trauma centers improves patient outcomes by 25 percent.

National Virtual Support Groups for Trauma Survivors & Families

TSN Virtual Support Groups for Trauma Survivors: 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12:00p-1:30pm PST and 4th Wednesday of each month from 3:30pm-5pm PST (with the exception of November & December)

Traumatic injuries affect both physical and psychosocial well-being. The Trauma Survivor’s Network Peer Support Groups connect trauma survivors, families, friends, and caregivers, and provides a space to share experiences, offer mutual support, and enhance coping skills. Support groups are free, of charge and co-led by TSN Trauma Professionals and TSN Peers.

May 20, 2026 – The 3rd Wednesday in May is National Trauma Survivors Day! We celebrate together the strength and resiliency of trauma survivors, their family/friends, and the trauma professionals who go above and beyond every day. Learn more here.

Race to Rebuild

American Trauma Society

The American Trauma Society is dedicated to the elimination of needless death and disability from injury. For over 50 years, the ATS has served as an advocate for the trauma care system, trauma prevention programs, and survivors of trauma and their families throughout the United States. Our mission is to Save Lives, Improve Care, and Empower Survivors.

Anxiety & Depression Association of America

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) is dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related disorders through education, practice, and research. It helps people understand the disorders and educates them about scientifically supported treatments so they can make informed decisions. 

Brainline

Brainline provides education and resources about Brain Injury and PTSD for both adult and pediatric survivors and their families. They focus on treatment and recovery information for moderate to severe TBI symptoms in both adults and children.

Child Help

The ChildHelp National Child Abuse Hotline is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. Serving the U.S. and Canada, the hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who—through interpreters—provide assistance in over 170 languages. The hotline offers crisis intervention, information, and referrals to thousands of emergencies, social services, and support resources. All calls are confidential.

Child Mind Institute

The Child Mind Institute is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. The Child Mind Institute has prepared free multilingual trauma resources to aid parents, educators, and other adults in talking to children and adolescents about potentially traumatic events and identifying those who might benefit from more focused professional attention.

Children’s Burn Foundation

The Children’s Burn Foundation’s mission is to prevent the pain and trauma of burn injuries to children, and to heal and give children who have suffered severe burns the opportunity to reach their full potential, physically, psychologically, and socially. They are based in California, but offer some resources virtually to individuals located across the country.

Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.

 The Injury Free Coalition for Kids works to protect children and their families from preventable injuries through evidence-based research and proven intervention models.

My Grey Matterz

The Goal of the My Grey Matterz campaign is to partner with the skateboarding industry to encourage and promote helmet use.  By working with celebrities in the industry as role models for helmet use, providing education, outreach and advocacy we hope to change the tide of the catastrophic potential for injury from not skating safely.

National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement (NCSCB)

The National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement (NCSCB) at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work is dedicated to helping schools support their students through crisis and loss. They assist schools and communities in the U.S. and abroad to cope with the aftermath of tragedy in helping to support resilience after crises and traumatic events.

National Child Traumatic Stress Network

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) was created by Congress in 2000 as part of the Children’s Health Act to raise the standard of care and increase access to services for children and families who experience or witness traumatic events. This unique network of frontline providers, family members, researchers, and national partners is committed to changing the course of children’s lives by improving their care and moving scientific gains quickly into practice across the U.S.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can help prevent suicide. The 988 Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals in the United States.

As a local nonprofit organization, 211 San Diego is the region’s trusted source for information and connections to community, health, and disaster resources. Help is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and in more than 200 languages.  We believe access to health and social services provides a foundation for individuals and families to build and sustain healthy lives, so we’re collaborating with service providers in the San Diego region to build a more efficient, equitable, and accessible system that addresses the whole health of a person through integrated, person-centered care.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

his helpline provides 24-hour free and confidential treatment information about mental and/or substance use disorders, prevention, and recovery in English and Spanish. The SAMHSA website also offers a treatment locator to identify local mental health providers.

San Diego Brain Injury Foundation

The San Diego Brain Injury Foundation (SDBIF) is a non-profit that was founded in 1983 as the preeminent resource for brain injury survivors in San Diego County, as well as their caregivers and their families, to provide information, support, education, and community awareness. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for brain injury survivors and their families.

Spinal Cord Injury – Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation

The Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information, and advocacy. The Paralysis Resource Guide is a free comprehensive tool for everyone living with or impacted by paralysis.

Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide 

The mission of the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide is to reduce the number of youth suicides and attempted suicides by encouraging public awareness through the development and promotion of educational training programs.

The Trevor Project 

Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24. Trauma Intervention Programs of San Diego

Trauma Intervention Programs of San Diego (TIP) is a non-profit volunteer-based program developed to provide immediate support and assistance to those traumatically affected in emergency situations.

Understood

Understood is a combined effort from 15 nonprofit organizations that have joined together to support parents of children with learning and attention issues throughout their journey. They provide information and resources to help parents to help their children unlock their strengths and reach their full potential.
The professionals who advise parents on Understood include educators, learning and attention specialists, physicians, psychologists, lawyers, and more. They share a commitment to children with learning and attention issues.
