Methodist Dallas Medical Center is a level I trauma facility, supported by a 59 bed emergency department and 556 bed hospital with a multidisciplinary team of trauma surgeons, trauma nurses, and support staff that are on site and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – ensuring the highest quality of life-saving care to all trauma patients that come through our doors.

Through our Trauma Survivors Network, we aim to provide support services to both patients and family members that is otherwise not regularly available or included during a traumatic hospitalizations.

What is Trauma Survivors Network?

Over the past 50 years, advancements in trauma care have significantly reduced mortality and morbidity. However, long-term outcomes for trauma patients remain suboptimal, with emotional responses playing a crucial role. Research indicates that improving post-trauma outcomes involves addressing emotional challenges and providing peer support.

In 2008, the Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) by the American Trauma Society was established to connect survivors, enhance skills, and build a supportive community. TSN focuses on connecting, educating, and empowering trauma survivors and their families, offering resources and advocacy for improved recovery.

The Mission:

The Trauma Survivors Network (TSN), created by the American Trauma Society, aims to support trauma patients and their families in navigating hospital stays and facilitating recovery. TSN offers practical information, peer support, and skill-building resources. Collaborating with trauma centers, TSN fosters online communities and provides training for healthcare providers. Research shows that TSN implementation positively impacts post-trauma outcomes and aids in supporting those grieving the loss of a loved one. Explore our website to discover the comprehensive services offered, and if your center is interested in joining as a TSN facility.

MDMC Trauma Services

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is the only Level I Trauma Center south of I-30 and southwest of the Trinity River. This designation means we’re qualified to provide the highest level of emergency care, 24/7. At Methodist Dallas, our team is committed to providing you with the most advanced emergency care. Our updated ED features updated equipment and technology.

When you visit us, you’ll find:
  • Spacious facilities: We designed our emergency department with more space to easily accommodate more hospital staff, patients, and families. Patient rooms are configured to allow for better staff coverage and collaboration.
  • Innovative technology: Our facility features a dedicated CT room, two radiology rooms, and portable digital X-ray equipment that we bring directly to the bedside.
  • Enhanced patient safety: Both the intensive care and critical care units have low nurse-to-patient ratios, allowing nurses to devote more energy to their patients. The ED waiting room and trauma area both have negative air pressurization to limit the spread of airborne illnesses. Our infection control practices surpass industry standards.
  • Focus on comfort: Our private patient rooms are filled with mood-boosting natural light to promote healing. Glass partitions throughout the units help minimize sound for patients who are resting while still allowing clinical staff to monitor patients.
