Ongoing The NextSteps program is a free 6-week self management course designed to recognize that YOU play the most important role in your recovery. based on the principles of self-management. It uses techniques that have been scientifically proven to increase one’s self confidence and sense of empowerment. Grants for Amputees

Camps, symposiums, and events for amputees:

  • Scarlett’s Way is a non-profit based out of Western Colorado for kids with fibular hemimelia and vets with limb loss.  https://nolimitssw.org
  • The Limb Preservation Foundation Annual Symposium – https://limbpreservation.org/symposium/ This is a 1-day event in Denver that covers topics from surgeons, mental health providers, other amputees, and prosthetic providers to help educate and empower folks living with limb loss or facing potential limb loss. There are scholarships that you can apply for through the website.
  • Empower Fest – Empower Fest is a 3-day program put on by Hangar Clinic and is a program for amputees of any type. The festival moves around each year. Hangar offers several clinics as well as an outdoor recreation day where amputees can participate in different activities such as testing a running blade with prosthetists available for fitting, mobility courses.  Empower Fest is a great opportunity to try some new outdoor recreation and learn about new prosthetic technology that is out there. It was also a great opportunity to meet amputees and share advice on different activities. Scholarships are available if cost is a concern. Flagship Patient Events | Hanger Clinic
  • Amputee Coalition National Conference – https://www.amputee-coalition.org/events-programs/national-conference/ This is a national conference that is out of various cities in the US. They have vendors, speakers, adaptive exercise clinics, and more. 
  • National Ability Center: https://discovernac.org/programs/ Located in Park City. Offers a wide variety of outdoor adaptive programs, most notably their winter ski program. Winter activities: Nordic skiing (Cross country skiing), Downhill ski/snowboard, snowshoe. They have a summer rafting program out of Moab as well. Other programs are wake surfing, mountain biking, indoor rock climbing, equestrian programs, a rope challenge course, paddle sports, fat tire biking, adaptive cycling, sled hockey, and archery. The Ability Center also offers several camps and seminars each year that cover different activities and disabilities. Scholarships are available if cost is a concern for these activities.
