Serving the community since 1904, Lutheran Hospital is a 396-bed tertiary care facility that provides healthcare services to patients in Fort Wayne and throughout northeastern Indiana and northwestern Ohio. Accredited by The Joint Commission and part of Lutheran Health Network, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care with the best possible experience to every patient, every time, and to making a positive impact on our community.

Lutheran Hospital of Indiana obtained Adult and Pediatric Level II Trauma verification from the American College of Surgeons in 2009. Reverification for both Adult and Pediatric Centers was achieved in 2012, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2023 and most recently 2025. The American College of Surgeons has recognized Lutheran Hospital for their 24/7 dedication to providing optimal care for critically injured patients.

Supported by a team of experienced trauma medical doctors, the trauma center is consistently finding new ways to improve triage times and provide quality patient care. From door – doctor, we are focused on delivering efficient emergency trauma care.

The dedicated team of trauma medical doctors, who combine for more than 50 years of trauma experience, along with specially trained trauma nurses, are committed to providing services such as:

• Multidisciplinary team standing bedside upon patient’s arrival
• Computed tomography (CT) scanner
• Advanced trauma life support (ATLS)
• Trained/board-certified emergency physicians
• 15 minute response time for trauma surgeons (Level I traumas)
• Backup trauma surgeon on-call
• Orthopedic surgeon (with backup surgeon on-call)
• Neurosurgeon (with backup surgeon on-call)
