Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Lancaster County Pennsylvania and the second such center in the University of Pennsylvania Health System. From the Emergency Department and surgery, through recovery, discharge and follow-up visits at the trauma clinic, a dedicated trauma team cares for each patient, ensuring the highest quality treatment and a smooth transition through every stage of care. In addition to providing care for patients who experience traumatic injuries, our Trauma and Acute Care surgeons, residents, and advanced providers are on-call 24/7/365 for emergency surgeries.
Trauma team members are actively involved in outreach activities that educate the community about a wide range of safety and injury prevention issues. Included among these programs are concussion and brain injury prevention, Stop the Bleed training, and partnerships with the local Amish and Anabaptist communities to improve safety in the rural areas of Central Pennsylvania.
