Jamaica Hospital has been recognized as one of the leading hospitals in Queens, New York since 1891. Jamaica Hospital’s Emergency Department serves as a Level I Trauma Center and Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center– the only one of its kind in South Queens. There are a wide range of specialties that cater to the needs of patients and their families. The Trauma Survivors Network (TSN) at Jamaica Hospital is a community of patients and their loved ones offering support and connection following a traumatic injury. There are several resources available to TSN participants including:
Peer Visitation: Peer visitors are trained volunteers who are survivors of a traumatic injury or loved ones of a survivor. Inpatient and outpatient visitations are available.
Support Groups: Monthly meetings are available for survivors and their loved ones. Group sessions offer opportunities to share experiences and tools to facilitate recovery.
Counseling services: Referrals for counseling services are available to support mental health and emotional wellbeing.
NextSteps Services: Online program with live chats that provides support in managing lifestyle changes and exploring difficult emotions that follow a serious physical injury.
