Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center

When the unexpected intercedes and a traumatic event occurs, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) is here to answer the call – any time, day or night. No matter what walk of life, background, credo, gender or ethnicity, every patient will be treated with the highest level of compassion and with elite, evidence-based trauma and acute care.

 

PVHMC has trauma surgeons who are double board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care. They’re supported by elite orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and 24 hour in-house anesthesia coverage.

 

As a Trauma Center, PVHMC has the following:

• Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) dedicated to the care of the injured patient

• Operating rooms available 24 hours a day

• Staffed and available CT scanners 24 hours of the day

• Trauma-trained nurses and technicians

• Surgical critical care capabilities

• Around-the-clock Blood Bank operations

• Helipad for aerial transports

 

Paramedic Base Station

PVHMC is one of twenty three Paramedic Base Stations in Los Angeles County who work to help coordinate the emergency caregivers in the community (Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and fire personnel.) The Base Station is staffed by specially trained Mobile Intensive Care Nurses (MICN) who work via closed circuit radio to coordinate care in the field (community) to prepare the Emergency Department (ED) staff for the imminent arrival of a critically ill or injured patient. This service is provided to the communities of Pomona, Claremont, La Verne, San Dimas, Diamond Bar, Walnut, and other neighboring cities.

 

Disaster Resource Center (DRC)

As the DRC for the region, PVHMC is responsible for helping to coordinate eight to ten hospitals in the event of a regional disaster or a disaster that involves more than one hospital. PVHMC has coordinated multiple drills and training sessions and the sharing of plans to bring together the community and our resources for disaster preparedness. PVHMC is one of 13 designated DRCs in Los Angeles County and is also a part of the National BioTerrorism Hospital Preparedness Program (NBHPP).

Bridging the Gap provides a sense of community, resources, education, and student support for brain injury survivors and their loved ones. We hope to decrease the sense of isolation that often occurs after a brain injury, and to empower these individuals to move forward in their lives and achieve their goals. Project Sister Family Services (PSFS) is a local rape crisis center with the mission to reduce the traum and risk of sexual assault and child abuse.
