Grady Health System – Marcus Trauma Center (268)

]

Grady operates one of the nation’s best trauma centers.

Medical fellows and residents from around the world come to Atlanta to learn at our Marcus Trauma Center. So do military special forces medics who need to know how to efficiently handle complex, severe trauma cases.

We are one of the five busiest Level 1 trauma centers in the nation and the busiest in the Southeast with more than 9000 trauma activations. Trauma patients are routinely brought to Grady from more than 50 local, state-wide, and regional trauma and non-trauma centers because we have the experience to handle the most complicated cases and the newest medical technology to diagnose and treat the most serious conditions. Our trauma experts serve on the faculties of Emory and Morehouse schools of medicine. And, because Grady has one of the nation’s most active trauma research programs, we offer access to some of medicine’s most promising emerging therapies.

At Grady, every patient we treat benefits from the comprehensive medical services we’ve created for Atlanta over more than 125 years. That means we have the expertise to handle whatever trauma you’ve experienced and whatever complications that may arise. Our use of pioneering techniques has won Grady a national reputation for medical advancement in trauma care and areas like burns, stroke, diabetes, infectious diseases, women’s health, sickle cell, and other conditions cared for by specialists in our centers of excellence

Trauma Recovery Care

After Care Services
We see a lot of injuries in our Marcus Trauma and Emergency Center. From a lot of research, we know that someone is at a high risk of being injured again after a traumatic event. We also know that all the factors that may have put you at risk of being injured today will still be there when you leave the hospital. And most things that put you at risk aren’t entirely in your control or easy to change.

Grady’s Trauma Recovery Center can provide you with 16 weeks of free psychotherapy and supportive case management services. We offer services for patients 5 years or older who are DeKalb/Fulton County residents and have experienced any of the following within the last three years:

Burns
Domestic Violence
Firearm Violence
Human Sex Trafficking
Motor Vehicle Collision
Physical assault
Sexual Assault
Stabbing
We want to help. Grady’s Trauma Recovery Center can connect you with the services you need like:

Access to primary medical care
Assistance with finding emergency/safe housing
Case management and assertive outreach
Individual and group psychotherapy
Legal and financial assistance referrals and advocacy
Medication management and support
Self-care education and emphasis
If there are changes you think could help you be safer, let us be your resource. Receive services through telehealth, in-home/community visits, and in-person at Grady. Insurance is not required to participate.

Cutting-edge, NIH-sponsored research leading to advances in the treatment of patients with trauma, mental illness, and schizophrenia
