As part of UPMC in North Central Pa health system, UPMC Williamsport is a Level II Trauma Center, providing expert, 24/7 care to patients with serious and life-threatening injuries. Covering a 12-county region, our trauma team includes board-certified trauma surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and specialists who deliver coordinated, high-quality care from the moment a patient arrives through their recovery journey.
UPMC Williamsport operates Susquehanna Regional Emergency EMS–the only hospital-based emergency medical response service in the state. This means our paramedics have extra trauma care training and field surgery skills, working collaboratively with hospital staff to ensure seamless patient handoffs.
To complement our trauma services, UPMC Williamsport offers a wide range of specialties and supportive care programs designed to promote healing and improve outcomes. These include on-site surgical specialties, critical care services, and a comprehensive inpatient physical rehabilitation program, allowing patients to continue their recovery without needing to leave the region.
Trauma Survivor’s Network
UPMC Williamsport is a proud member of the Trauma Survivor’s Network (TSN). The TSN supports survivors and their families with compassionate care and long-term recovery resources every step of the way. Our TSN provides vital services, which include a Full Circle Cart to provide care and comfort items, an annual Trauma Survivors Reception, and the Peer to Peer Visitation Program.
UPMC Williamsport’s TSN provides a regionally unique peer to peer visitation program that connects trauma patients and their families with trained survivor volunteers, offering empathy, understanding, and hope through shared lived experiences.
Peer visitors are thriving, trained, and supervised trauma survivors who draw on their lived recovery experience to offer a compassionate listening ear and practical resources when appropriate. Having successfully navigated the recovery journey themselves, peer visitors serve as a source of hope and a meaningful complement to clinical care.
