The Trauma Team at UPMC Williamsport was excited to host Thistle. Thistle arrived at our trauma center as the official Trauma Llama Ambassador for the TSN, ready to visit patients, support staff, and spread encouragement throughout the hospital.

However, Thistle unexpectedly became a patient himself, spending time in the trauma bay and working towards a speedy recovery with our therapy team. Thistle’s firsthand experiences provided a unique perspective and made this llama an authentic member of our peer visitation program, truly relating to the journey of resilience and recovery.
